Thoughts on the JACO ElitePro Tire Pressure Gauge after 3 Track Seasons

Having tried a number of tire pressure gauges over my years at the track (digital and analog), the JACO ElitePro Tire Pressure Gauge is the only one that’s stood the test of time. Here’s why:

Jaco’s Ease of Use:

The longer tubing between the gauge and the valve is a game-changer. It makes the process of checking tire pressure so much more convenient, especially in those tight spots. I’ve found the short stubby versions without tubing are a pain to seat on the valve right and the digital ones without a hose are the same.

Reliability:

One of the standout features is its ability to hold the reading. No more squinting and rushing to get a glimpse of the pressure before it resets. My brain is going a million miles an hour when I come off track, having it hold the reading gives me time to jot the numbers down in my reMarkable 2.

Swivel Nozzle:

The swivel nozzle is a great feature. It provides the flexibility needed to approach the tire valve from different angles, making seating it properly a sinch (mostly) when you’re in a hurry to take all four tire pressures. Wear gloves though, as the brass nozzle can get hot.

JACO ElitePro’s Bleeder Valve:

After a heated session on the track, the bleeder valve proves its worth. It’s perfect for quickly letting out air, ensuring the tires are at the optimal pressure for the next session! Yeah, no need to go using fingernails or a screwdriver (seen folks do it smh) to bleed air.

Accuracy:

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the readings from this gauge are extremely closely aligned with the TPMS on my GT4. As an aside, if you need to reset your TPMS on a Porsche, here’s how you do it. They’re never going to match 100% of course, but after using it a handful of times I can confidently set my tire pressures. My gut tells me the Porsche rounds the readings up/down depending on where that half PSI falls. I use the gauge exclusively when I’m at the track and never had issues, knock on wood!

Build Quality:

The JACO ElitePro gauge is well-made and sturdy in hand. Mine has been dropped, thrown into the trunk and even driven over once (not by me I hasten to add) and still works extremely well. I’ve not noticed any change in reading over the three seasons I’ve been using it. I’ve left it out in the sun too, which has destroyed the glow in the dark screen, but I’ve never need it anyway.

JACO’s Value for Money:

At around $20 at time of publication ($24.95 MSRP), I think this tire pressure gauge offers exceptional value for money.
